The Success Story of ICNSNT 2018
The 6th International Conference on Nano Science and Nanotechnology 2018 – (ICNSNT 2018 – Nanotechnology Conference ’18) was organized by The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Sri Lanka in collaboration with the “Faculty of Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia” as the Hosting Partner and “Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, University of Tulsa, USA” and “Oklahoma Photovoltaic Research Institute (OKPVRI)” as the successful Academic Partners of the Conference.
Inauguration Ceremony
The Conference was held on 13th – 14th December 2018 in Colombo, Sri Lanka under the theme “Nanoscience and Nanotechnology; Interdisciplinary Approach for Innovation and Invention”. ICNSNT 2018 was chaired by the renowned key person in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology Prof. K.M. Nalin de Silva (Senior Professor of Chemistry, University of Colombo and Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology, Sri Lanka).
The opening remarks of ICNSNT 2018 were made by Conference Chair Prof. K.M. Nalin de Silva (Senior Professor of Chemistry, University of Colombo and Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology, Sri Lanka) together with Mr. Isanka P. Gamage (Managing Director, The International Institute of Knowledge Management).
Keynote Forum
The 5th International Conference on Nano Science and Nanotechnology 2018 (ICNSNT 2018) was a great platform Nanotechnology Researchers, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Investors, Nano Scientists, Practitioners, Policy Makers, industry experts and members of professional bodies to exchange their newest knowledge.
Keynote forum was one of the most significant moments during the Conference and it was enlightened by Prof. Nilanga Liyanage (Professor of Physics, University of Virginia, USA) on the topic “Particle Accelerators in Nano Science“, Prof. G.R.A. Kumara (National Institute of Fundamental Studies, Sri Lanka) – “”Novel Research Conducted in the Area of Nanotechnology” and Dr. Gareth Williams (University College London, United Kingdom) on the topic “Nanoscale Architectures from Electro Hydrodynamic Processes, and Their Applications in Drug Delivery”.

Special features of the conference
Workshop
A workshop on “Advanced Materials in Pharmaceutics” was conducted by Dr. Gareth Williams from United Kingdom. This workshop brought academic researchers and industry experts to discuss the role of advanced materials in formulation science, and to explore how work done in universities internationally can best be applied to the challenges facing industry. The Sessions focused on the following:
- The need for new pharmaceutical materials and the state of the art in research;
- Trends in emerging materials;
- Intellectual property and novel materials;
- Regulatory requirements and challenges.
